Digging The Foundation

As you can see, they picked a snowy morning.
But -- you gotta dig when the spirit says dig.

 Not surprisingly,
there was a bunch of rocks.

Exciting to see the project get started.
Monday they will pour the foundation.

Stone Pillars For The Driveway Entry

This is a project that my husband has thought about
ever since we moved to the house.
We had wooden planters on either side of the driveway before.
Mostly to protect the drainage pipe that runs under the drive
from getting squished.

\With all the stone around this area, it wasn't hard to locate
some vintage stone pillars to get inspiration from.

It took six 80-lb bags of mortar, many rocks from our property
and many hours of back-breaking labor....

But they are done.
Probably will have some planter on top come spring.

Camoflauging The Boneyard

This is what we lovingly call the boneyard.
Wheelbarrows and other yard stuff,
the compost pile,
junk that is for sale.   It all ends up there.
It didn't matter that it was an eyesore,
until we decided to build the Airbnb.

We tore down the sagging wire fence and replaced it
with bits of corrugated metal that we had hanging around.

My son and husband managed to do it in an afternoon.

I stood where the cabin porch will be to take this photo.
Nice & tidy!

Thrift For The Guest Cottage

It is tough to get a good deal on facebook marketplace.
They get snapped up so fast.
I messaged about this light fixture 6 minutes after it was listed.
It came with 4 Edison bulbs, so $30 was a steal.
It may get a silver makeover.

My favorite thrift store has 50% off the first Saturday of the month.
So I went to see what I could find:
-- several sheets (twin and queen) ($1 each)
-- blender ($2)
-- oval full length mirror ($10) I will be painting the wood white
Ended up not using the mirror in the guest cottage.

White plates -- $1.50 for the stack.

Pendant Lamp -- $3.00.
I will spraypaint the brass silver.
Ended up using in the bunk room with a galvanized shade.

Blue Hearts & The End Of My Blog

Early on during the corona virus, I did this project. When we put scalloped wood trim on the guest cottage door, we had some of the trim ...
