ANOTHER Child's Vintage Easel Chalkboard.

ANOTHER Child's Vintage Easel Chalkboard, check out my last one here. Looking back, I think I have redone and sold two additional ones.

I still haven't sold my last one, so why buy another one?
A $4 price tag, that is why.

I painted the chalkboard paint on what used to be the work service,
and secured it so that it would not flop down anymore.

Then I added a "Penmanship" graphic to the scrolling window.
I am getting quicker at giving these little pieces of the past a makeover.

Last Weekend's Vintage Finds

The common denominator for all of these vintage finds: none of them are "my usual" picks.  Totally outside the box of what I normally purchase for resale.

This year I am trying not to purchase pottery or glass.
But what to do when I see a McCoy bank grinning at me?
Bought for $5, sold for $10.

And I have always had a soft spot for carnival glass.

.The pattern & iridescence on these Northwood berry bowls was sweet.
Bought for $4, sold for $15.

 Cabbage leaf  Wedgwood Plates.
Bought for $4, sold for $22.

A primitive chair.  I always tell my husband
that they are not worth messing with.
Bought for $2, sold for $15.

But what great green paint and patina on this beauty.

I bought TWO of these without a clue of what they were.
Apparently, if you are into looking at colonies of bacteria,
this is your best friend.
Bought for $4, sold for $15.

My husband bought the closest dump truck for $1.
I brought the other THREE up from storage to show him we already had a few.
He thought that his dump truck was just good at making friends.

Never buy books in poor condition.
Never.
So why did I buy this 1907
"Moving Pictures Teddies" book?
Bought for $4, sold for $10 on ebay.

Last Weekend's Vintage Auction Finds

We are still having a garage sale drought in our area, so I was thrilled to attend two auctions last weekend.  I only stayed about 1.5 hours at each, but got some good, sellable junk.  The first three items came from a monthly "Tiny Town" auction.
.
The baby quilt has hand embroidered Mother Goose poems.
It was in good shape, and I thought it had some age.

It wasn't until I got home that I noticed the 1923 date on it.
So cute.

 Love this little blue wagon,
do you think the name of the wagon or the owner was Sherri?

These last couple of items came from a Saturday morning auction.
I loved the frame on this painting even more than the painting.

An olive colored mason jar,
which I will be listing on ebay,
(Bought for $8, sold for $92 on ebay.)
And I picked up an old trunk at the same auction.
Stay tuned for a future post on it.

Monthly Tiny Town Auction Finds 5.26.2017

The last Friday evening of every month this tiny town has an auction.  Not to be confused with their weekly Saturday morning auctions (usually the last wrung of the junk ladder).  The monthly auction is junk a wrung or two above that.

So we went to the once-a-month auction last Friday night.  It was hot, so I gave my husband the list for the outdoor stuff (they ran two lines) and sat in the air conditioning being entertained by people paying way too much in the air conditioning.  So here is what we came home with:

Cream Separator & Wash Tub
Washtub was purchased for $20, sold for $55.

Blue Mason Jars

White Dishes.
Some ironstone.  Some old.  Some new.
Some to keep.  Some to sell.

Eastlake Drawer Pulls

1940s Oil Can
Purchased for $25, sold for $50.

7.16.16 Auction Finds -- LOOKIN' FOR SMALLS

I went to the weekly tiny town auction last Saturday morning with one thing in mind: "Do NOT buy anything large."
I am running out of storage space,

I need smalls to fill in my booth's nooks and crannies,
(Log cabin folk art bookends --
bought for $5, sold for $30.)

it is too hot to haul heavy things,

I needed a mental break from vanloads of junk,

I am doing a kind of local "sidewalk sale" next Wednesday
and I needed something besides...

the usual huge, rusty stuff.

And sometimes it just feels good to

step out of your rusty, junky comfort zone.

Just for one week, one auction...

and then I'll get right back in the rusty, junky, oversized fray.

Saturday's Vintage Finds 10.10.15

My husband and I had a quick and thorough junking morning last Saturday.

Paid $1, sold for $8.
First we hit a couple garage sales, which produced a couple of boxes of Christmas ornaments including these.

Then we went to a Tiny Town Saturday morning auction.  Which produced 100 vintage battery oil bottles, all of which had been "dug".  If you are not familiar with the term, it meant I had to hand wash each and every little bottle.

Sold 5 for $27.
But they turned out well.

We also snagged several jars of buttons,

Sold for $12 on ebay.
and a circa 1900 piano book with 12 full-page illustrations.

This Past Weekend's Vintage Finds 9.26.15

A quick review of last weekend's junking opportunities:

1. Friday morning garage sales.  I really only purchased one item of note, but what a great item it was!

25 FEET of vintage cowboy fabric!
Going on ebay!
Bought for $2, sold for $128.

2.  Friday night tiny town auction.  (click   here  to check our past adventures at this auction which takes place the last Friday evening of each month ).

I took advantage of the fact that my husband was with me
to purchase some heavy junk.

Besides this gorgeous woodburning stove,
I also picked up two old doors, two ladders...

and a very cool old record player.

I looked so skinny in my shadow,,,,
I wish it were closer to reality.

3.  Saturday morning we got up early (unloaded) and took a roadtrip to a small town (surrounded by wind turbines) that was having a city-wide garage sale.  We bought two more doors at a garage sale, while someone was watching us load they mentioned they had 11 more doors at a farm shed - DONE.

So we netted 15 old doors total for the weekend!

The shed also produced this perfectly rusty old wagon.

Vintage Finds From Junking Marathon 8.22.15

Last post I gave you a whirlwind tour of the garage sales, flea market, and TWO auctions we attended on Saturday.  Click HERE to see that post. Now the reveal of what we came home with:

The three Little Tavern Mugs came from the first thing we hit Saturday a.m. -
a local garage sale.  Little Tavern Shops were an East Coast chain, but the
creator / owner was originally from our little town.
Each Little Tavern mug brought about $50 on ebay,
just a few years later the price dropped dramatically because of reproductions.

Red Wing pitcher came from the Flea Market.
Heading to ebay.
Sold for $56.

Santa head came from auction #1.
Going on Ebay.

I got five matching seed sacks at the
Flea Market.  Also ebay bound.

Vintage original oil painting from the church fundraiser auction.
One of the rare things I'm keeping for now.
I think you can see why.

All from the Flea Market.
Going to the Rusty Chandelier as soon as I can get them priced.

Canners from first auction.
Concrete mushroom from church auction.

Most from first auction.
Round wire basket from last garage sale.
All going to Rusty Chandelier.

My husband picked up these bits and pieces.
Old toy tractor parts going on ebay.

He also snagged this at the flea.
Going on ebay.

Blue Hearts & The End Of My Blog

Early on during the corona virus, I did this project. When we put scalloped wood trim on the guest cottage door, we had some of the trim ...
