Farewell To My Antique Booth

I have had at least one antique booth for the last 28 years.

Lots of different venues -- including my own antique shop for 3 years.

For at least 10 years I sold "junk" from an outdoor booth too.

I was always on the hunt for junk to resale in my booth.

It was a great side business when my kids were growing up.

It was a great side business when I had a "real" job.

Up until the last two years (since I moved to the Ozarks)

it has been very profitable for me.

But it is time to pull the plug -- it has not been

profitable enough for me since we moved down here.

I have one more trip down to remove my "stuff" and then I am done.

End of an era.

Sunday Flea Finds

 We arrrived at our favorite flea market by 6 am today

and I think it paid off.

Two wooden ladders, paid $5 each.

Two wheelbarrows: paid $10 each and sold each for $24.

 My husband surprised me with this little beauty,

he knows I like scary dolls.

 A cool looking scale, only $10.

Sold for $35.

 Old Mirror with surprisingly good frame, paid $10.

 Always looking for sleds. Paid $10.

This one has a nice aged alligator finish.

This one I kept.

 Boiler, and yes I already have one that I can't sell.

Now I will have two that aren't selling, but only paid $10.

Mr. Log Cabin also sold me this.

Three Conservo Steamer Cooker things,

still in their ORIGINAL Crate.  What?!!!

Probably from around 1907.

Apparently Mrs. Winslow had a hard time selling things too.

Sunday Flea Finds

 This key display I actually bought at a garage sale on Friday.

$20, but so cool.  It would make a great wall decor.

Sold some keys on ebay for $54, sold the rest for $35.

 Here is the motherload from the flea market today.

We bought an old safe yesterday for quite a bit of money,

so only bought things today if they were cheap.

Square milk box -- bought for $5, sold for $20.

 

 Four drawers that were falling apart.

I got them for $1 each, I will use the drawer fronts

for something.

 The crazy quilt is not in perfect condition,

but the price was perfect.

Bought for $15.

 Nice old bait bucket,

I almost never find these for reasonable prices anymore.

\Bought for $3, sold for $18.

We have enough barbed wire that I could have made

a thousand Faith signs.  But instead, I spent money on this one.

Outdoor Booth Ready For Spring Open House

Stockton Lake Auction Finds

 We went to our first Ozark auction on Sunday.

It was outdoors, but around 42 degrees.

There wasn't much of interest there, but we did pick up some

really great vintage concrete yard ornaments....

 a windmill base, a metal water tank,

and an oak table.

All heading to my "Camp Flea" outdoor area.

Outdoor Store In The Ozarks

 In Northwest Missouri I had an outdoor area at my

antique store.  It did very well for me during the spring and summer,

and always managed to pay for itself the rest of the year.

Fast forward to living in the Ozarks, and selling antiques in the area.

There was no place that had decent "outdoor store" areas.

So I approached my antique mall -- Camp Flea In Ozark, MO

about renting a tiny space by the parking lot I saw available.

Instead they carved out a large area of the "porch" for me.

We've already dropped off a couple of loads.

Hopefully, I will have everything in place and buzzing by March 1.

Local On-Line Auction Vintage Wins

 

So about 10 days ago I made some entry-level bids on a local on-line auction.  They have a certain pick-up window of about 2 hours, no exceptions.  But I knew my calendar was clear, so I made some opening bids on about 45 lots.  45 lots.  The next day my son called to say that they were inducing my grandchild on the appointed pick-up day.  So, I asked a friend to pick up the treasures and did not raise any bids.  Therefore, my "wins" were pretty much the loser stuff that no one else wanted.  (BUT, who cares?  I HAVE A GRANDSON!)  I bid $4 on this "lot" because of the retro lamp shade peeking up of the top.  And yes, it was cool. Sold on ebay for $26.

 

This is a cute little side table with a "gator" patina.  It is a keeper, I paid $18 (all bids includes 10% auctioneer fee).

I am definitely a sucker for these vintage oriental jackets.  Many came from Japan during Korean war.  this lot included at least two for $4.  I will probably sell them on ebay.

Sold one for $20.

Do you see the small tiered shelf hiding in back?  That is why I bid on this lot, it was carved by a local around the 1930s and has a great tramp art look. I got it and the cute pink TP holder for $2.

 I got a big box of misc Catholic items which date from the 1940s-1950s for $4.  It was fun looking through all of it.  I kept a box of medallions, medals for ebay -- and I sold the rest at a yard sale Saturday. The ebay medallions sold for $14.

 I got these three little ceramic dwarves for $2.

They will sell in my "outdoor store".

 I had to get two large totes of "fall decor"

because I saw a corner of one of these peeking out.

$4, plus two totes which I can really put to good use as we are moving.

Sold on ebay for $21.

Most of the above stuff has already been moved to our new house.

Saturday's Vintage Auction Finds

I went to a local auction yesterday.

The weather was perfect.

They sold all of the "yard" stuff first,

which was exactly what I was looking for.

 All of these pics are from my "outdoor store",

the only area that I am selling from currently.

I purchased tons of birdhouses...

and four concrete yard ornaments.

Paid $5 for each, sold between $14-$28.

It should keep my booth stocked for awhile,

while I am "down south".

Pick'd Up Doors Revisited

My May 3 post showed two "cute" truck doors (click here to read that post) and I commented,
"Can't you see these with a fake company painted on the doors?"

 

My husband finally got interested in this project, mostly he was interested in getting them out of the yard.


 He dusted off the paintbrushes and added Motorhead Shop to one....

 
 and Dad's Garage to the other.

Like all my rusty treasures, they're available at my outdoor store. 

Hoping customers are inspired to hang one in their garage/shop.

City-Wide Garage Sales Weekend

So last weekend was my little town's city-wide garage sales -- over 200 garage sales. About 20% start Thursday, another 40% start Friday, and on the official city-wide day of Saturday the other 40% start.  Normally, I am on top of my game those three days, but we were out-of-town until mid-afternoon Thursday, and I needed to leave town again by 9:30 am Saturday.

 So, it was a little hard to figure out which

sales had already been open the day before and therefore were a waste of my time.

Blue milk can I bought for $5, sold for $27.

 Nevertheless, we did our best and picked up a few nice items.

This little adirondack stool is going on ebay.

but they were so cute in this vintage upcycled box.
